    Keep your FlowStone surface right

A few simple habits protect the finish and keep your custom-poured surface looking its best. The guidance below reflects a standard resin surface; your installed system's current technical documentation governs any specific limits.

    Do

    • Wipe spills promptly with a soft, damp cloth
    • Clean daily with mild soap and warm water
    • Use cutting boards for all food preparation
    • Use trivets or hot pads under hot pots and pans
    • Keep the surface dry around sinks, seams, and edges
    • Blot up standing water rather than letting it sit
    • Place heat-generating small appliances on a protective pad

    Avoid

    • Do not place hot cookware directly on the surface
    • Avoid abrasive scrubbers, powders, scouring pads, or steel wool
    • Do not use bleach, ammonia, acetone, or solvent-based cleaners
    • Do not cut directly on the resin surface
    • Avoid prolonged standing water or pooling at edges and seams
    • Do not drag heavy or sharp objects across the finish
    • Do not run heat-generating appliances on the surface for long periods

What to do, and what to avoid

Each area below covers a real question homeowners ask after an install.

    Daily cleaning

Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild dish soap and warm water. Wipe the surface, then dry with a clean cloth to avoid water spots. Most messes need nothing more.

    Approved and prohibited cleaners

Mild soap and water, or a non-abrasive cleaner designed for resin or solid surfaces, are appropriate. Avoid bleach, ammonia, acetone, and solvent-based or abrasive cleaners, which can dull or damage the finish.

    Abrasive pads and scratching

Never use scouring pads, steel wool, or abrasive powders. They can scratch and cloud the surface. Use only soft cloths and sponges.

    Cutting boards

Always use a cutting board. Resin is a working surface, not a cutting surface. Direct cutting will mark the finish.

    Trivets and direct heat

Use trivets or hot pads under any hot cookware. Do not place hot pans directly on the surface. Sustained or concentrated heat can damage the resin.

    Small appliances that generate heat

Toaster ovens, air fryers, pressure cookers, and similar appliances can transfer sustained heat to the surface. Place them on a trivet or protective pad, and avoid running them in one spot for long periods.

    Spills

Wipe up food, oil, wine, and colored spills promptly with a soft, damp cloth. Most spills clean easily when caught early. Letting a spill sit can stain or dull the finish over time.

    Standing water and seam care

Keep the area around sinks and seams dry. Wipe up pooled water promptly, especially at edges, to protect the finish and any transition points.

    Heavy impacts

Resin is durable, but it is not stone. Avoid dropping heavy or sharp objects on the surface, which can chip or dent the finish.

    Scratch prevention

Prevention is the best protection. Use cutting boards, keep sharp objects off the surface, and clean with soft materials only.

    Minor refresh or repair

Light scratching or dulling can often be refreshed. More significant damage is repairable in many cases because the surface is hand-poured. Contact us before attempting any repair yourself.
